your child has recently learned their letters and single digit numbers, is still learning in those areas, or has not read a book on their own yet. Reading I C U will help your child practice holding a small book, turning pages, and reading from left to right and top to bottom. Simply read the pages like a normal sentence by saying just the name of each letter and number, not the letter sounds. your child has recently learned their letter sounds or is still learning in this area. Confidence Milestone 2 books are the most powerful way to read a book after mastering letter identification. These books use the most simple words to help children with their phonics. These books are an amazing baby step to build upon your child's experience from the Confidence Milestone1 books by combining single letters together to form words that children can read on their own.

your child is confident with reading 3-letter words or is still working on reading complete sentences. If your child hasn't read a book on their own yet, we suggest starting with a Confidence Milestone 1 or 2 book. Confidence Milestone 3 books are going to include many important site words, build vocabulary, and continue growing literacy with simple sentences. By this level, children should be comfortable with their phonics and have experience with combining letter sounds together in 3-letter words.

your child is consistent and confident with reading 4-letter words. If your child hasn't read a book on their own yet, we suggest starting with a Confidence Milestone 1, 2, or 3 book. Confidence Milestone 4 books are going to build you child's site words, increase vocabulary, and grow literacy fundamentals with simple sentences. By this level, children should be very comfortable with their phonics and have experience with combining letter sounds together in 4-letter words.
